Serve Colorado Survey


Serve Colorado -the Governor’s Commission on Community Service is for input their statewide need assessment by completing this surveyThe survey will lay the foundation for the upcoming 2013-2015 Unified State Service Plan, which will outline the strategy for coordinating AmeriCorps and other national service programs within Colorado in the coming years. This survey concludes Friday, April 26, so don’t miss the opportunity to voice your community’s needs. Your input ensures that your community’s needs are accurately articulated to Serve Colorado, which will allow Serve Colorado to create a service plan that provides for your community. Serve Colorado – the Governor’s Commission on Community Service strives to build a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility in Colorado. The commission works under the leadership of a board of sixteen Commissioners to distribute and administer Colorado’s allocation of AmeriCorps*State funding from theCorporation for National and CommunityService (CNCS).


CNCS is a federal government agency that supports and promotes service in America by actively engaging over five million Americans in community projects every year in the following six focus areas: education, veterans and military families, disaster preparedness, healthy futures, clean energy, and economic opportunity.

2012 AmeriCorps Impact in Colorado:
·  More than 12,000 people served in more than 1,200 locations across the state;
·  More than 75,000 disadvantaged youth were served;
·  Almost 60,000 individuals were mentored;
·  1,300 baby boomers and 1,4000 disadvantaged youth were engaged as volunteers in their communities;
·  More than 1,000 seniors and disabled individuals received independent living services for a more self-sufficient lifestyle;
·  CNCS committed over $31.7 million to national service initiatives in Colorado, providing essential support to our state’s most impoverished communities; and
·  Since 1994, over 27,000 Coloradans have served more than 23 million hours in AmeriCorps programs, gaining valuable experience while making Colorado safer, stronger and healthier.
