Clarification is provided for existing hospital regulations 42 CFR 482.13(a) and (b), and new 42 CFR 482.13(h), concerning hospital patients’ rights, including advance directives and visitation rights. Clarification is provided for existing CAH regulations at 42 CFR 485.608(a), concerning compliance with Federal laws and regulations, including regulations governing advance directives and required patient disclosures.
